School trustees are elected members of the Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools Board of Education. Trustees work collectively as a Board to govern the school district, with a primary mandate of improving learning for students. Their responsibilities include developing the district's strategic direction, reviewing and approving balanced budgets, reviewing operational plans and establishing policies that guide the district. Trustees represent the interests of the broader public education community rather than managing individual schools or day-to-day district operations.
