Biography

I have lived in Nanaimo since 1987. I was a member of the last mass grad from NDSS in 1989, and continued my education at Malaspina College and then to UVIC, where I have earned a Bachelors in Canadian History, Bachelors of Fine Arts in Theatre, Teachers Certification and most recently a Masters of Public Administration. Before being elected in 2022, I spent 20 years as a teacher at John Barsby Community School. I have two public school kids, one at NDSS and one in first year Engineering at UBC. My wife and I raise two kunekune hogs, three goats, hens, cats and a dog on our home in South Wellington. I am also the Artistic Director of Reconciliation Theatre, a live theatre touring company that spotlights Indigenous talent. In my spare time I sit on the board of Literacy Central Vancouver Island and enjoy these beautiful lands that we live on, with gratitude to the Snuneymuxw Nation.
