Biography

Hi, I’m Max MacKay. Nanaimo isn’t just where I live, it’s where I was born, raised, and built my life. As a Status First Nations resident with deep roots in this city, I care deeply about our community’s history, its people, and the direction we are heading. For the past seven years, I’ve worked on the frontlines of Nanaimo’s hospitality industry. Serving our community every day has given me a unique, unfiltered perspective on local life. Across thousands of conversations at work, on our local streets, and as an active member of the Nanaimo Golf Club, I’ve listened to residents from every walk of life share their stories, their struggles, and their hopes for our city.

General Voting Day

Saturday, 17 October, 8 a.m.–8 p.m.

Nanaimo uses a vote-anywhere system, so you can vote at any City voting location. The Protection Island Fire Hall is open 10 a.m.–6 p.m.

Advance and mail voting

Advance voting is at Beban Park Social Centre, 2300 Bowen Road, on Wednesday, 7 October and Wednesday, 14 October, 8 a.m.–8 p.m.

Apply to vote by mail by 4 p.m. on Friday, 16 October. Completed ballots must reach the Chief Election Officer by 8 p.m. on Saturday, 17 October.
